“OUT OF THE BOX” CONTEMPORARY ART EXHIBITION
AT “MUSEO DEL MAR” - SANTA POLA, SPAIN
PRESENTATION AT “OUT OF THE BOX” EXHIBITION
“Out of the core”, “Champion”, “out of the ordinary” (o uncommon): in this way, those who are outside the conventions, norms, and approvals have always stood out in society.
It’s curious that, to be interesting, you need to be and act “out of the box” in which society forces us to stay; those who remain inside, paradoxically, are less likely to leave an important and indelible mark.
Painters, poets, philosophers, actors are no exception, as regards these definitions united by the “outside”: many of the artistic, architectural and sculptural creations were made “fuera de la caja”, outside the rules imposed by a power of the few.
Creativity, talent, going “in an obstinate and opposite direction” (in the words of the great Genoese poet and artist Fabrizio De Andrè), have allowed the world of art to reach unthinkable goals.
The key element of this great exhibition, which will take place in the “Fortezza Castle of Santa Pola” from 15 October to 30 November and which inaugurates the autumn season of the great exhibitions, in the evocative and important Spanish setting, the variety of the artists’ origin.
An international exhibition in which a myriad of nationalities are represented; where paths, talents, introspective journeys offer a complete and comprehensive overview of the importance of being “fuera de la caja”. The context of the exhibition offers a cosmopolitan and confrontational approach between the participating artists.
All this, in a fairly standardized world, becomes possible thanks to the cutting out of “fuera” spaces without prejudices, without preconnections and without mental closures.
The perspectives of the artists of the Fuera de la Caja exhibition are intertwined in a ball with their life experiences, with their creative process and unfold in a series of the most colorful and stimulating itineraries.
The figurative world mixes with the abstract and conceptual world, the figurative and the marine landscape painter become the reflection of a “group of artists” who prefer to give it a try having another prospect.
The invitation that we should and must accept is not to feel trapped in the tight meshes of contemporaneity but, on the contrary, to escape and come out: in this, Art and creativity will always open up a fascinating path for us, even if not without pitfalls.
Where does reality end and when does fiction begin? Simão Matos, Portuguese artist based in Spain, tries to give an answer and develops his creativity among the waves of current events. If on the one hand he focuses his production on themes that are linked to social, political and economic aspects, on the other hand the experimentation of new technique brings him towards something new, outer from the dimension where we live. Miniature men fight and interact with the world that surrounds them, looking at the background, observing the folds, pushing in order not to be caught by a white cover ready to swallow them, to make some room in a world that is ready to be theirs. It is a way to investigate the concepts of space and time, inside these limbo-chambers which isolate them from the most concrete facts. The contact with the deepest Self, the most tormented soul, allows him to touch the humanity in all its facets, with an artistic sensitivity that catalyses all the events that change our lives.
