“Differenze e Analogie del Colore” ANALOGUE COLLAGE EXHIBITION

PRESENTATION AT “Differenze e Analogie del Colore” EXHIBITION
The difference highlights the nature or the dissimilar qualities between objects and people. The analogy, instead, indicates a relation of resemblance between two entities, so that from the equality of some of their peculiar aspects we can reach a general affinity or correspondence.
Each artist has their own vision of things, in a way that’s such different from all the other ones. As we create analogies between works, matter, procedures and colours.
In this exhibition every artist interprets their own differentiation of the used colours and the analogy that their own piece can have with all the other ones, other techniques, other uses of colours, in order to achieve a combination that, starting from the differences, can bring analogies and similitudes.

In the art of Analog Collage by Simão Matos, chance rarely plays a role. The artist provides the concept, but it's up to the viewer to interpret it in their own way. This allows for endless possibilities and creativity in each composition. The connection between the visual and the underlying metaphor is established within each individual who views the artwork. The work is adaptable to any situation. The analogy presented in each piece is reflected in the title, which is sometimes ironic, sometimes ambiguous, but always an open invitation to the viewer.
For instance, in the "Autumn's Fashion Collection" collage created in 2018, we can explore beyond the initial analogy between the title and the aesthetics presented. We may find some false shreds of evidence that are dismantled in each successive added analogy created between the visual and multiple interpretations. The suggestions that merge the sea and the land, the rational and the irrational, the elegance and the grotesque, the dry and the humid, the various beauties and the colours that move between different dimensions that, by analogy, seek a perfect uniqueness, they may not exhaust themselves. However, this imperfection is what drives us to continue looking for it, making every interpretation unique.
In the analogue collage titled "So Cute", the game of analogies can be interpreted from different perspectives, depending on the relationship we establish with the imagery present in its visual composition's details. The artwork portrays a glimpse of glances among the figures involved, creating a complex interpretative density. The author intends to inspire the viewer to generate their own stories based on the artwork. The impersonal title of the artwork allows for all the dynamics that can be discovered between all eyes. Moreover, we must also consider two more looks: those of the author and the spectator, which are perhaps the most significant.
