FIRST EDITION PRESENTATION

As a Young Generation, we experience this world differently. We appreciate today and live it to the fullest, without postponing happiness for later.  We know that we are not eternal, and we realize that art lives as long as we enjoy it. That's why we founded in Kyiv, the CUTOUT festival - a celebration of inexhaustible technology, which shows a new, radical knowledge of the present and will help expand the perception of contemporary art.

The first Ukrainian Contemporary Collage Festival CUTOUT COLLAGE FESTIVAL was held in the summer of 2021, in Kyiv at two locations: Museum of Kyiv History and RA Gallery.

SIMAO MATOS (Spain) «Emptiness» series

Analog collages titled "Resistance", "Healing", and "Opening" were created using craft and illustration paper sourced from '50s magazines. The artworks were made in A3 size in 2021 by a Portuguese artist, art teacher, and art therapist who has been based in Alicante, Spain since 2012. The artist is also the founder and manager of the growing IG community called Collage Sanctuaries.

According to the artist, the artworks were created to explore the various personalities of paper as the main material for artistic creation. The simplicity of the images is represented by the character featured in each of the works. The paper's complexity is also highlighted, not only as a material but also as a physically manipulated disposition. The aim of the artworks is to create a set of tensions that define different spaces and tell a unique story for each viewer.
